Algae, especially once the heat sets in
This is the number one call we get from June through September. Rising temperatures plus a dip in chlorine or weak circulation is basically an open invitation for algae, and it doesn't take long to establish once conditions are right. Green is the one everybody recognizes, but yellow (mustard) and black algae show up too, and both are more stubborn to clear than the standard green variety. Beyond looking bad, algae-covered surfaces get genuinely slippery — a real slip hazard on steps and shallow-end floors.

Cloudy or unbalanced water

Heat, heavy use, weak filtration, and off pH can all cause it, and the fix depends on figuring out which one (or which combination) is actually responsible. Adding chlorine and hoping is the most common mistake we see homeowners make with this one.
Equipment wearing down faster than it should
Pumps, filters, timers, and plumbing all take a beating over a full swim season, and normal wear is expected. What's not expected — but what we catch a lot — is equipment failing early because it's been running with poorly balanced water for months. Corrosive or scale-heavy water is hard on seals, heaters, and pump housings in ways that aren't always obvious until something actually breaks. Strange noise, weak flow, or visible leaking are all worth a look before they become a bigger repair.
Debris that never seems to stop
